The super sonic slide guitar duo of Delta Blues grand master John Mooney and Roots chameleon Marc Stone are back! Having joined forces in 2016, they anchor their collaboration with the deep country Blues that is the foundation of Mooney’s legendary status and turn up the heat with funkified acoustic madness that touches all the bases.
Guitar Player Magazine says “John Mooney’s music is thicker than sweet potato pie and spicier than okra gumbo. His phrasing, timing and tone are the stuff dreams are made of.” Blending his experience as the last great slide player to come up playing with Son House – mentor to both Robert Johnson and Muddy Waters – with jumping New Orleans rhythms, Mooney has achieved mythical status in the Roots music world. His longtime friend Bonnie Raitt has called him “more possessed of the spirit of the Blues than any man alive.”
Roots chameleon Marc Stone has carved a unique place for himself during nearly 30 years on the New Orleans scene. With eclectic original music and a guitar style informed by years of playing with legendary Blues, RnB, Funk and Zydeco artists, as well as jam band legends, African groups, folkies and Brass Band masters, Stone has toured extensively as an artist in the US and Europe. OffBeat Magazine calls his music “some sort of glorious Elton John/Walter “Wolfman” Washington mash up.”
